Out of all the nicknames President Ronald Reagan had, the most famous one was “The Great Communicator”. The reason was that he had a remarkable skill as a public speaker and a unique talent to convey his feelings clearly.

A few tips on speech writing and eloquence based on quotes uttered by Reagan himself would be:

• Be honest in what you are saying and be in touch with your audience
• “What I said simply made sense to the [man] on the street”
• Talk to your audience, not over their heads or through them
• Use normal everyday words
• Do not detach yourself from the public or think that you’re apart from them
